Hearing that the Wyler Racing / South Point Racing-Gaughan ‘merger’ has fallen through for the 2008 season. No further details on what caused the deal to fall apart.(11-28-2007)
UPDATE: Brendan Gaughan told Sirius NASCAR Radio’s Sirius Speedway Wednesday that the announced merger with Wyler Racing is off, and that his family’s South Point Racing team will disband. Gaughan offered very few details on the split, saying only that, “It’s unfortunate when individuals put themselves ahead of the team.” He said he is currently looking for a new position, and hopes to take 10-12 of his South Point crew members with him.(Sirius.com)(11-28-2007)
UPDATE 2: Gaughan said about a dozen South Point Racing employees committed to move with him to the new team. He said he is working on a deal to drive for an existing truck team next year, but it must include positions for his teammates. “Those guys have waited with me and for me.
