Carlos Sainz of Spain regained the overall lead of the Dakar Rally on Friday by winning a seventh stage in which NASCAR star Robby Gordon placed third, moving up to fifth overall. Sainz beat Volkswagen teammate Mark Miller of the United States by 3 minutes, 41 seconds to secure his third stage win of the race. Gordon was third in his Hummer, 4:13 back after the ride from the Argentine city of Mendoza to Santiago, Chile’s second largest city.(NASCAR.com)(1-9-2009)
