Bob Reath, owner of U.S. Chrome Corporation announced that he and his corporation are proud to sponsor the #08 Carter Simo Racing Ford Fusion in the Watkins Glen International Raceway NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event slated for August 8, 2009. Reath and U.S. Chrome Corporation got started in NASCAR in the mid to late 80’s as a primary sponsor for Dana Patten, racing around the short tracks of New England. In 1988, U.S. Chrome partnered with Patten to run five Sprint Cup races. The team, based out of a two-stall garage in Enfield, N.H., made their debut at Michigan International Speedway with Frank Stoddard as the lead wrench and chassis specialist. Both Reath and Stoddard went on to grow in their respective fields. Stoddard cemented his place in NASCAR as a leading crew chief [14 wins with Jeff Burton] after several successful seasons with Roush Fenway Racing (RFR). Reath’s U.S. Chrome Corporation, headquartered in Stratford, CT, has six plants in Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin. The company specializes in functional wear, corrosion and friction resistant coatings. It also features a new environmentally friendly electrocomposite coating for several industries, including: powersports; motorsports; aerospace; agricultural; solar; automotive; firearms; FAA aircraft repair; oil; and gas. “Everyone at U.S. Chrome is excited about racing again with Frank,” says Reath. “We hope he succeeds as he has in many years of racing.
