#48-Jimmie Johnson’s amazing run in Chase VI continued Saturday night at Lowe’s Motor Speedway with his win, the third in five Chase races. Since finishing 24th at Talladega in the fourth Chase race in 2006, Johnson has accomplished the following over the last 31 Chase races:
* No finish worse than 15th
* 27 Top 10s out of 31 races
* 21 Top 5s
* 19 Podium Finishes
* 11 Wins
Next is Martinsville, where Johnson has won four of five Chase races and has collected Top 5s in 10 of the last 11. Even though #24-Jeff Gordon surrendered the late lead at Charlotte, his fourth place finish moved him from fifth to third in the standings, now 45 points out of 2nd place #5-Mark Martin and 135 out of the lead. Gordon is almost as good as Johnson at Martinsville, and can challenge for the win Sunday. Martin’s 17th cost him 78 points on the lead.
