Highland Rim Speedway has a new owner, one with a familiar name. Hamilton Entertainment, Inc., completed the purchase on Wednesday, according to the track’s Web site, as the venue attempts to have sustained ownership. Bobby Hamilton Jr., who cut his teeth at the track, is looking to use the track to help drivers find a racing home after Nashville’s Fairgrounds Speedway was recently shut down. Hamilton Jr., has asked drivers who competed at the fairgrounds to attend division meetings next week at Highland Rim, where the 2010 schedule is slated to start in mid-March. The track, located in Ridgetop, TN has had multiple owners in the past several years. It opened in 1964 under the ownership of L.J. Hampton, Ed Shannon and Earnest Walton. From 1990-2003, the owners were Ronnie and Pat Baucom. Later in 2003, Larry Gerleve purchased the track before selling it to Wayne Woelk in May 2009.(Tennessean)(12-4-2009)
