UPDATE: This week in Talladega there will be a special 811 logo on the #16 3M Ford Fusion to remind fans to call 811 before they dig to avoid cutting lines such as gas, electric and cable. April is National Safe Digging Month (RFR).
AND: Two top race teams and the Governor of Alabama are among those supporting “Call 811” and National Safe Digging Month surrounding the upcoming April 25 race in Talladega. Kevin Harvick of Richard Childress Racing (RCR) will run the “Call 811” logo on the deck lid and rocker panels of the #29 Shell-Pennzoil Chevy at Talladega Superspeedway. The logo will also run on the hood, deck lid and TV panel of the #16 3M Ford Fusion. The addition of the logo is part of a larger effort to educate fans and encourage them to make a quick and easy call to 811 to help protect people from unintentionally hitting underground pipelines, infrastructure and utility lines, which can put the community and environment at risk. In addition to RCR and 3M backing the cause, Alabama Governor Bob Riley has proclaimed April as National Safe Digging month in the state of Alabama and is urging all excavators and homeowners to call 811 before doing ANY digging. In an effort to promote public safety, Shell, 3M, and RCR, in conjunction with the Common Ground Advisory and its members, are encouraging homeowners and contractors to call 811 before they dig to prevent injuries, property damage and inconvenient outages. Every digging job requires a call ‘Â even small projects like planting trees or shrubs.(PR) see images of the #16 scheme on my #16 Team Schemes page.(2-1-2010)
