Kevin Harvick won the Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It was his 35th Nationwide Series victory in his 239th career start. His 35 wins remains second all-time behind Mark Martin’s 48. He led twice for a race-high 82 laps including the final 25.
Denny Hamlin (finished second) scored his best finish at Las Vegas in his fifth start.
Carl Edwards finished third in his first race back with crew chief Drew Blickensderfer, and he continues to lead the points. He has a current streak of 15 top-10s and five top-5 finishes.
Trevor Bayne (sixth) scored his best career finish.
Steve Wallace (10th) had his fifth straight top-10 finish, the best streak of his career.
John Wes Townley (15th) scored his best career finish.
Justin Allgaier, Brian Vickers, Edwards, Wallace and the #20 car (driven by Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin this season) scored top-10 finishes in the first three races of 2010.
Colin Braun (28th) was the best of the five rookie of the year contenders in the race. Four of the contenders were involved in accidents, and all five did not finish the race.
Eleven drivers made their first Nationwide Series start at Las Vegas including Danica Patrick (36th). Patrick’s next race is at New Hampshire in June.
Chevrolet scored its 350th career series win.
The top-10 consisted of four Toyotas, one Chevy, three Fords and two Dodges.
The race was slowed by caution eight times for 39 laps.
There was a rain delay of 1 hour and 30 minutes, the race finally went green at 6:15 p.m. ET.
