Teams in both NASCAR series in action at Atlanta this weekend will run the same tire codes, though the Sprint Cup tires will be branded “Goodyear Eagle,” while the Camping World Truck tires will be branded “Goodyear Wrangler” . . . this is a brand new combination of left- and right-side tires, coming out of a Goodyear test at Atlanta this past January 12-13 . . . teams and drivers participating in that test were the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet with Mark Martin, No. 56 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota with Martin Truex Jr., No. 77 Penske Racing Dodge with Sam Hornish and No. 99 Roush-Fenway Racing Ford with Carl Edwards . . . compared to the tire set-up run at Atlanta last fall, both these left- and right-side tires have undergone construction changes to help give cars more grip . . . while this year’s left-side compound remains unchanged, this right-side compound is slightly more tractive, also to provide more grip . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Atlanta . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.(Goodyear PR) [Complete tire specs are posted on the Atlanta Race Page.](3-4-2010)
