The City of Palmdale is inviting the public to join in celebrating Ron Hornaday, Jr. Day in Palmdale at a press conference/meet and greet event slated for April 8 at 1 pm on the roundabout in front of Rally Chevrolet, Palmdale Auto Mall, 39012 Carriage Way in Palmdale. Hornaday, a former Palmdale resident and NASCAR Champion, will be in attendance to receive a proclamation and banner from the City and address and meet the crowd. The Palmdale City Council will proclaim April 8 as Ron Hornaday, Jr. Day in Palmdale at its April meeting, in honor of the former Palmdale resident’s achievements in his sport of racing. In addition, the area around the Palmdale Auto Mall, which now features street banners with Hornaday’s image and number “16” car, will be designated as Ron Hornaday, Jr. Way. The 51-year-old Hornaday, known as the “Pride of Palmdale,” is a four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) champion. He has competed in all of NASCAR’s three elite divisions, but has found a home in the NCWTS and with Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI). UPDATE: The City of Palmdale California will honor four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion and Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) driver Ron Hornaday on Thursday, April 8th by renaming all access roads to the Antelope Valley Auto Center “Ron Hornaday Way.” Hornaday, a former Palmdale resident, grew up in and around the small southern California city. Not only will the city rename all the entrances around the Antelope Valley Auto Center “Ron Hornaday Way,” the city will also deem April 8th as Ron Hornaday day, presenting Hornaday a key to the city.(Kevin Harvick Inc.
