Richard Childress Racing (RCR) driver #33-Clint Bowyer traded in his racing helmet for a hard hat on Thursday, when he joined Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert and city street repair crews to help fill potholes on a stretch of roadway as part of a community initiative by the driver’s associate sponsor, The Hartford Financial Services Group. “The Hartford Pothole Patrol” is a program designed to help create a smoother commute for Dallas-area residents. Clint Bowyer, who is in town to compete in this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS), along with The Hartford executive, Alison Clark, presented the mayor with a The Hartford-branded #33 hard hat to kick off the event in a ceremony at City Hall Plaza. From there, Clint Bowyer and one repair crew traveled to their first stop, where the NASCAR driver received instruction, then with hard hat on and Jackhammer in hand, went to work. Bowyer helped the crew fill the potholes, including putting the finishing touches on the freshly-laid asphalt by utilizing the sealing machine. The Hartford, which donated the funds for materials, labor and time for all of the city’s repair crews for the day, is the primary sponsor of RCR’s #33 Chevy for three races this season, as well as an associate sponsor for all remaining 2010 events.(Catalyst PR), see images of the #33 Hartford schemes on my #33 Team Schemes page.(4-16-2010)
