Kyle Busch won the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway. It was his 33rd series victory in his 180th start and his fifth consecutive win at Texas, joining Dale Earnhart (Daytona) and Jack Ingram (South Boston) as the only drivers to win five in a row at a track. Busch’s five wins at Texas breaks a tie with Kevin Harvick for the most victories there.
Busch posted his third series win of 2010 (California, Phoenix), the most of all drivers. It was his 66th NASCAR win, which ranks ninth all time.
Busch led four times for 153 laps. He has led 810 of the past 1,000 laps run at Texas (81 percent). He has led twice as many laps as any other driver at Texas.
Busch finished third in the Sprint Cup race earlier Monday.
Joe Gibbs Racing posted its 45th series win. JGR has five wins at Texas, all by Busch. It was JGR’s third win of 2010, all by Busch.
JGR posted its eighth 1-2 finish, the first time at Texas. Monday’s race marked the sixth time Busch and Joey Logano have finished 1-2.
Toyota has won the past five races at Texas. It swept the top three spots for the fourth time. It was Toyota’s third victory this season.
The top 10 consisted of two Chevrolets, five Toyotas, two Fords and one Dodge.
Logano (second) had his fifth top-10 finish in six races in 2010.
Reed Sorenson (third) scored his second top-3 finish in his fourth race of 2010.
Brad Keselowski (fourth) posted his sixth consecutive top-5 finish but lost the points lead and now trails Busch by 20.
Kevin Harvick (fifth) notched his sixth top-5 finish this season.
Jamie McMurray finished sixth in his first Nationwide start for JR Motorsports.
Steve Wallace (ninth) was the only driver to finish in the top 10 who did not compete in the Cup race earlier in the day.
Carl Edwards finished 30th after having transmission trouble and fell to fifth in the standings, 106 points back. It is the first time he is not in the top two in driver points since California in August 2008, 50 races ago.
Fifteen drivers competed in the Cup race that was run prior to this race.
