Mike Skinner had hoped his victory in the NASCAR Camping World Trucks Series last year at Kansas Speedway would have grabbed the attention of his high-profile team owner. The victory was the first for Randy Moss Motorsports, the team co-owned by the New England Patriots’ star wide receiver, and Skinner won two more races, cleaning up the Midwest with victories at St. Louis and Iowa. While Skinner realizes Moss has a day job working for Bill Belichick, he expressed disappointment in Moss’ lack of involvement with the two-truck team that also includes David Starr. “Randy’s a great guy, but he’s not involved as much. … I’d love to see him get involved more. Maybe if we can win us a couple of races before football season starts …” Skinner, the inaugural NASCAR trucks champion in 1995 and a veteran of 245 Sprint Cup races, joined Randy Moss Motorsports last season with the hope of establishing a long-term relationship. “I was hoping Randy was setting the stage for something when he retires from playing, that this could be one of his businesses that could be a lot of fun and be productive,” said Skinner. “I would love to run his race team for him or help him with it. I hope that he gets back into it. We have not seen much interest from him lately.”(Kansas City Star)(5-2-2010)
