TRG Motorsports today announced a partnership with The Upper Big Branch Family Fund to pay tribute to the 29 West Virginia miners who lost their lives in a mining incident on April 5th. This partnership will launch during this weekend’s Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. The team will help raise awareness through the website, www.RememberTheMiners.org, to be featured as a part of the paint scheme of the TRG Motorsports #71 Chevrolet driven by NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Bobby Labonte. The Upper Big Branch Family Fund was formed to give support, assistance and scholarships to the families of the fallen miners. The fund will help the miners’ family members pay for college or take care of other expenses to keep the family stable, a fitting tribute to the men who died. The Fund was created by West Virginia University Head Basketball Coach Bob Huggins and Big Coal River native Jason Parsons.
AND TRG Motorsports announced a new partnership with The United States Department of Veterans Affairs. The team will highlight the Post-9/11 GI Bill program on the #71 Chevry driven by Bobby Labonte this weekend during the Coca-Cola 600. The Post-9/11 GI Bill is an education program that provides benefits for Veterans, Service Members and their families. This bill is a flexible educational benefit designed to help these men and women jumpstart their new careers. This is a tribute to thank all these men and women for their extraordinary service. The #71 Chevy will carry the URL www.GIBill.va.gov on various primary positions of the car including the quarter panel and TV panel. An American flag will adorn the hood of the car this weekend. The Post-9/11 GI Bill can include up to 100% of tuition, a housing allowance and money for books. This is a part of our Country’s gratitude for the service and sacrifices by true hero’s. Currently more than 600,000 Veterans are using the VA Education Benefits. VA has made over three billion in payments under the Post-9/11 GI Bill program.(TRG Motorsports)(5-29-2010) See images of the car on my #71 Team Schemes page.(5-28-2010)
