He has the least impressive stats in the Top 12, but Martin Truex gained 12th place in the standings with his 12th at Dover, benefiting from Dale Jr.’s 30th at Dover, which bounced him down all the way to 16th place. Hard to believe, but we will be at halfway in The Race to The Chase 2010 after the Coke 600, race no. 13 of 26 before the cutoff. After 12 races, the furtherest a eventual chase driver was in Matt Kenseth in 2004 when was in 23rd place, 292 points out of the Chase and in 2008 Kenseth was in 16th, -190 point out of the Chase. Only in 2006 did the points leader after 12 races win the Sprint Cup Championship when Jimmie Johnson did so.
