Logano vs. Harvick, some notes:

  • #29-Kevin Harvick and #20-Joey Logano got together on the track a few laps from the finish, Logano came down entering turn 3 and Harvick didn’t follow but held his ground, the #29 right front touched the #20-left rear, sending the #20 in a long slide, just missing the outside wall. Harvick finished 4th and Logano was able to hold on and finished 13th. On pit road, Logano drove up to where Harvick’s car was parked, a crew member tried to hold Logano back while his father grabbed Logano and encouraged him to confront Harvick. Logano could not get near Harvick as the #29 crew members blocked the way. Logano said a few things and was ushered away. Moments later he was interviewed by TNT and said “Its disappointing to be honest with you, we had a top-five run going with the Home Depot Toyota. I was pretty pumped up about it. Racing the 29 (Kevin Harvick) and he let me go in the middle of the straightaway and then decided to dump me in the next turn. I dont know what his problem is with me but its probably not his fault. His wife wears the fire suit in the family and tells him what to do. Its probably not his fault.’ What will it take to cool this feud down? ‘I dont know. Im going to go to the NASCAR hauler and I guess they are going to tell me what Im supposed to do. We will just have to see.’ What did Coach Gibbs and J.D. Gibbs say to you? ‘They just said to calm down, you know we finished 13th. We rallied back from 30th in two laps so at least we got something out of it. Not a top-five like we should have finished, but it is what it is. I dont know what I ever did to (piss) him off, but he is apparently stupid.’ -more- (Toyota NSCS Pocono Post-Race Notes)
Harvick’s comment ‘We had a great day, today. I just got into turn three and we just wound up getting together (with the 20). It was just two cars going for the same space at one time. I just need to thank everybody on my Shell-Pennzoil Chevy, they did a great job today and we had a solid car. I kind of got stuck back there in the middle of the pack with the pit strategy but, all-in-all, our car was good all day and worked out for a top five.’(RCR)
AND Harvick called the incident ‘a 20-year-old move’ and added, ‘he just races without giving people any respect and not much room. So, we just wound up getting together. Its unfortunate, but thats the way it goes.’(FoxSports)
Harvick responded on Twitter, “After his TV comment I don’t know if he wants to fight me or [DeLana]. My money’s on her!”
AND Harvick’s crew chief Gil Martin claimed Logano sped toward Harvick’s pit box and nearly slammed into several crew members before coming to a stop.(Associated Press) Logano went to speak to Sprint Cup series officials after the race and left without further comment. Harvick was not called to the hauler.(6-7-2010)
