#14-Tony Stewart’s fifth at MIS catapulted him from 13th into 11th place, regaining a spot in the Top 12 for the first time in 8 races. A good race at Infineon should send “Smoke” on his way to a spot in Chase VII. #5-Mark Martin, who had to sweat making some of the early Chases, is right back on the bubble. His mediocre 16th at MIS dropped him back to the 12th position, and four challengers are less than 100 points out of his position. Only Jimmie Johnson has scored fewer points in the last five races, among the current Top 12. #39-Ryan Newman’s 32nd dropped him to 15th and he lost 73 points to 12th, now 91 points out. The Rocketman, who made a strong run to the Chase last year, was ten spots better at this time in 2009.
