#48-Jimmie Johnson won the Toyota / Save Mart 350 Sprint Cup Series race at Infineon Raceway for his 1st win at a road course, 4th win of the season and 51st of his career. The win is Hendrick Motorsports 15th win on a road course. #7-Robby Gordon finished 2nd for his best finish since Watkins Glen in 2005 when he finished 2nd and first top 5 since finished 3rd at Charlotte in May 2009. #29-Harvick finished 3rd followed by #9-Kahne, #24-Gordon, #47-Ambrose, #16-Biffle, #26-Boris Said, #14-Stewart and #42-Montoya. #47-Ambrose was poised to win his first Sprint Cup race with 6 laps to go during the 7th caution, Ambrose shut off his engine to save gas, then could not restart the engine immediately. Ambrose lost 6 positions while restarting his engine. Drivers are supposed to maintain caution speed and NASCAR officials let the #47 team know, forcing Ambrose to restart in seventh. Points leader #29-Harvick increased his points lead to 140 [from 22], now over Johnson, who moved to 2nd. #18-Busch wrecked early and finished 32nd, falling to 4th in the points. #88-Earnhardt Jr. finished 11th. A couple road course specialists making their first Sprint Cup starts did ok with #09-Magnussen finishing 12th and #83-Ekstrom finishing 21st.
There were 12 lead changes among 8 drivers and 7 cautions for 14 yellow flag laps along with a red flag that lasted about 21 minutes after a big wreck on lap 67. The attendence was reported at 90,000, down from 93,500 last year
