Loudon Police Officer Brian Martel has much to be thankful for as he and his loving wife have their first child on the way. However, things could be much different for the Martel family. He just returned from a second tour of duty with the Army Reserves but during his first tour he nearly lost his life courtesy of a roadside bomb that obliterated the truck he was driving. Those who know him best would probably say that the city of Loudon has much to be thankful for as well. For Martel’s heroic efforts while serving with the Army Reserves and keeping the residents of Loudon safe he as been named the ‘ExtenZe Local Hero’ and will serve as Honorary Crew Chief for NASCAR’s leading Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year driver Kevin Conway and his ExtenZe racing team for this weekend’s NASCAR events at New Hampshire International Speedway.
