Kirk Shelmerdine will sell his current race team assets at public auction on September 14th. Shelmerdine is best known for his role as crew chief for Dale Earnhardt from 1984 until 1992. After his successful campaign with Earnhardt and Richard Childress, Kirk decided to retire, and later became a Cup series driver and team owner.
