CBS Consumer Products in conjunction with HLG Licensing and Front Row Motorsports will pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of The Andy Griffith Show with an original NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car in this weekend’s Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The car, which features the main characters of the iconic television series and a patrol-car paint scheme, will be fielded by Front Row’s #37 Ford Fusion team and driver Dave Blaney. Starting this week, fans of The Andy Griffith Show and Front Row Motorsports will be able to purchase their own souvenirs to commemorate the running of the anniversary racecar. No. 37 50th Anniversary Andy Griffith Show team hats and hooded sweatshirts will be available online at www.Yerzies.com.
“We couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Andy Griffith Show than its home state of North Carolina,” said Liz Kalodner, Executive Vice President and General Manager of CBS Consumer Products. “The NASCAR race at Charlotte Motor Speedway is the perfect event for that celebration.”
“Like so many other people, I’ve always loved The Andy Griffith Show,” said the #37 Ford Fusion Team owner Bob Jenkins. “We first started talking about doing this paint scheme a while ago, and now it’s really cool to see it come together and see it on the car in person. I think fans of the show are really going to like it.”
“It’s pretty cool to have the 50th anniversary of The Andy Griffith Show on our car for Charlotte,” said Blaney. “I remember watching it with my family back in the day, and we still catch the reruns every once in a while now. We’re happy to welcome the show back to its home state of North Carolina and give it a good run on the #37 car.”(Front Row Motorsports), orginally the scheme was to run on the #34 FRM Ford with Travis Kvapil driving.
