Former NASCAR Sprint Cup crew chief David Hyder has taken a position with Kevin Harvick Inc. Hyder most recently worked as a crew chief with the Wood Brothers on the # 21 Cup car. Hyder is “shadowing us” this weekend, said KHI general manager Rick Carelli. “He’ll be working on special projects,” Carelli added. “He’ll also be Kevin’s crew chief at Martinsville (Speedway) on the #2 Tide truck.” After running part time with the Wood Brothers NASCAR Sprint Cup team this season, the 43-year-old High Pointe, N.C.-native says he’s looking forward to racing on a full-time basis again. KHI fields teams in the NASCAR Nationwide and Truck series. “I’m really looking forward to getting started,” Hyder said. “KHI has enjoyed a lot of success. For me, it’s all about the winning and I know I’m at the right place.” While KHI’s final plans for 2011 have yet to be announced, Carelli said that Hyder will be the crew chief for Tony Stewart and the #4 Chevy when he attempts to win his fourth consecutive Daytona 300 Nationwide Series race next February (FoxSports)(10-16-2010)
