The history of racing at Watkins Glen reached an impressive 62 years in 2010 and there are few people that know The Glen’s history better than the fans. In an attempt to tap into that extensive knowledge and allow fans to have an impact on the honoring of that history, Watkins Glen International is once again looking for fan nominations for the next class of the Legends of The Glen. Nominations can be submitted starting immediately until Sunday, November 14. The 2011 Class of the Legends of The Glen will be announced over the course of the 2011 season.
The Legends of The Glen was started in 2008 as part of the 60th anniversary of racing in Watkins Glen and continues to be awarded in honor of individuals that have made a significant impact on The Glen’s history. So far 12 people have been inducted in the program; Cameron and Jean Argetsinger, Jim Reisbeck, Phil Walters, Walter Hansgen, Graham Hill, Sir Jackie Stewart, Jim Clark, Al Holbert, Hurley Haywood, Mark Martin, and Tony Stewart.
