New Hampshire Notes-n-Nuggets:


  • • Tony Stewart earned his 41st career win in his 456th start. It was also his eighth victory with Stewart-Haas Racing and crew chief Darian Grubb in their 100th start together.
    • Tony Stewart became the second driver to win the first two races of the Chase; Greg Biffle did so in 2008.
    • Tony Stewart’s eighth Chase victory tied Carl Edwards for second all time behind Jimmie Johnson’s 19.
    • Tony Stewart led once for two laps, tying Jeff Burton for the fewest laps led in a New Hampshire victory.
    • Tony Stewart leads the points for the first time during the Chase since he won the title in 2005; however, the driver leading the points after the second race has never gone on to win the Chase.
    • Brad Keselowski (second) had his best career finish at NHMS; his previous best was sixth in Sept. 2009.
    • Greg Biffle (third) earned his second top-five finish of 2011; the other was a fourth at Texas in March.
    • Jeff Gordon (fourth) has had top-six finishes in five of the past six races; he led a race high 79 laps.
    • Brian Vickers (fifth) picked up his second top-five finish of 2011; he also tied his best finish at NHMS.
    • Matt Kenseth (sixth) rebounded from a spin early to get his first top-10 finish at New Hampshire in his past eight races.
    • David Ragan (seventh) earned his best New Hampshire finish in his 10th start; he has had top-11 finishes in the past three races.
    • Carl Edwards (eighth) had his fifth consecutive top-10 finish, but only his third top-10 finish in his 15th New Hampshire start.
