Ty Dillon will pilot the #3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Camping World Truck Series stable in Saturday’s American Ethanol 200. This week’s 200-lap race marks Dillon’s third appearance at the Newton, Iowa-based facility. Although the RCR driver has yet to compete at the 0.875-mile track in the Camping World Truck Series, he holds impressive stats in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards at the track. In the last two ARCA Series showings at the track, Dillon earned two pole awards, one victory and a runner-up finish. He has completed 100 percent of the contested laps and led for 201 circuits. Dillon’s last appearance at Iowa Speedway ended in victorious fashion by leading all but seven laps of the 200-lap ARCA Racing Series event, claiming his seventh win of the season. The Welcome, N.C., native qualified on the pole and crossed the finish line in the top spot with a 1.643-second lead over the second position. After a third-place showing at Kentucky Speedway in June, Dillon is tied for third in the 2012 Camping World Truck Series driver championship point standings, sitting four points behind leader Timothy Peter.(Richard Childress Racing PR)(7-10-2012)
