#43-Aric Almirola was involved in single car accident during opening practice session Saturday morning at New Hampshire when the left rear tire went down. Richard Petty Motorsports pulled out the backup car. Almirola was scheduled to start 19th but will go to the rear of the field before the start of the race on Sunday. Ford Racing posted some notes and quotes:
Q) ARE YOU OKAY? THAT WAS A BIG LICK.
Almirola: ‘Yeah, I am okay. It was a hard hit for sure, but I am good.’
Q) WHAT HAPPENED?
Almirola: It was a left rear tire going into the turn.’
Q) SAME AS JOEY [#22-Logano] HAD YESTERDAY?
Almirola: ‘Yeah, I honestly have no idea what is going on. I just don’t know. That was our third or fourth run on that same set of tires so I honestly cannot give you and answer. That was probably my fourth lap on the track. It is just weird.’
