Kyle Larson won the Coors Light Pole Award for the 41st Annual GoBowling.com 400 with a track qualifying record lap of 49.063 seconds, 183.438 mph. Denny Hamlin held the previous record of 181.415 mph/49.610 seconds, set in June of 2014.
This is his first pole in 25 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.
Larson is the first NASCAR Drive for Diversity graduate to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole.
Larson is the second Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate to win the Coors Light Pole this season (Austin Dillon, Daytona 500).
