#88-Dale Earnhardt, Jr. won the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway for his 4th win of the season, 1st at Martinsville and his 23rd career win. He took the lead from #14-Stewart with 3 laps to go. Stewart had stayed out after a late race caution while Earnhardt and most of the leaders pitted.
#24-Gordon finished 2nd followed by #31-Newman, #14-Stewart, #22-Logano, #20-Kenseth, #15-Bowyer, #11-Hamlin. #47-Allmendinger, and #34-Ragan.
Polesitter #1-McMurray finished 16th.
Among the Chase drivers, #4-Harvick suffered damage after contact with #20-Kenseth. He had to go behind the wall for repairs and finished 33rd. #2-Keselowski broke an axle with less than 70 laps to go and finished 31st.
There were 24 lead changes among 11 drivers. There were 15 cautions for 105 yellow flag laps. The race was red flagged twice, one on lap 436 for nearly 11 minutes and on lap 490 for almost 9 minutes, both for track cleanup after accidents.
The average speed was 70.725mph.
