Jimmie Johnson, driver of the #48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet and seven-time champion on the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, will participate in the Slow Roll bike tour in Detroit on Thursday, July 13. The 45-minute tour will take place from 3:25 p.m. to 4:10 p.m. and will cover approximately seven miles. It will begin and end at Brew Detroit, 1401 Abbott Street and will travel through Corktown, downtown Detroit and along the Detroit River. Johnson will start his tour of the Detroit area at the Michigan State Police – Metro South Post where he will gain hands-on experience operating tactical units. He will speak to the youth about physical fitness at the Detroit Police Athletic League before starting the bike tour, according to a news release. UPDATE Johnson took about a 5.5 mile bike ride through the heart of Detroit, led by members of the city’s own Slow Roll bike club and the Detroit Police Department. The trip took Johnson through Detroit with about 70 fellow cyclists as he took in the scenes of the Detroit Riverfront, Heart Plaza and much more. After the ride ended, Johnson had a lot of positive thoughts about the Motor City.
