SONOMA, Calif. (June 14, 2019) – Iconic Bay Area soul artists Tower of Power will perform the national anthem for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event at Sonoma Raceway on Sunday, June 23.
Founded in nearby Oakland in 1968, Tower of Power has carved its way through the music industry with a one-of-a-kind blend of intricate classics. The group, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018, has more than 24 releases in its impressive catalog, including studio albums, live albums and anthologies, and landed eight songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including chart-topping hits like "You’re Still a Young Man," "What is Hip?" and "Squib Cakes."
Noted for its power-packed Tower of Power Horns, they created one of the most in-demand horn sections on the West Coast, performing with the likes of Elton John, Bonnie Raitt and Huey Lewis.
Lead vocalist Marcus Scott will join the mighty five-piece Tower of Power Horns, including the band’s founders Doc Kupka and Emilio Castillo, to perform the national anthem minutes before the green flag falls on the Toyota/Save Mart 350.

Tower of Power’s performance will conclude a jam-packed Toyota/Save Mart 350 pre-race show, powered by Friedman’s’ Home Improvement, including a NASCAR legends Q&A, Patriots Jet Team air show, stunt plane, Oregon National Guard flyover and more.
