President Donald Trump said Thursday that he will bestow the nation’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, on metro Detroit racing team owner and businessman Roger Penske.
In making the announcement, Trump said he has discussed the award with Penske, 82, and said, “He’s very thrilled to be getting it.”
The president didn’t say when he would award the medal or provide any other details.
“He’s a great gentleman,” Trump said. “I’ve known him a long time. A very brilliant gentleman.”
