Joey Gase is teaming up with Iowa Donor Network to raise awareness for organ and tissue donation during the NASCAR XFINITY Series U.S. Cellular 250 race at Iowa Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 27th. Gase is featuring photos of two Iowans, Chuck Richardson of Morning Sun, Iowa and Phil Lewis of Iowa City, Iowa, on the hood of his #35 race car.
Richardson received a single lung transplant in 2011, which gave him four more years with his family. Richardson passed away in 2015 and became a tissue donor, enhancing hundreds of lives. Prior to his death, Richardson loved to watch racing and even raced himself. Lewis, who is suffering from heart failure, has been on the transplant waiting list for more than a year now. Lewis enjoys stock car racing and working on stock cars when he feels up to it. A photo of Gase’s Mom, Mary, will also be featured on Gase’s race car. Mary passed away in April 2011 and became a donor, saving and improving the lives of 66 people.
