When the NASCAR Xfinity Series takes the green flag at Watkins Glen on Saturday, August 3rd, Josh Bilicki will be racing with a message of hope to individuals and families impacted by cancer.
Lemons of Love, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, was created in 2014 when founder Jill Swanson Peltier was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer. As she began chemotherapy, a friend gave Jill a small goodie bag filled with items to help her through treatment. Touched by the kindness and thoughtfulness of this gift, she knew this was something every cancer patient should receive. Jill envisioned giving others the same kind of love and support with a simple gift that makes a big impact. Today, Lemons of Love shares chemo care packages with cancer patients around the world and provides programming at its Lemons of Love Cancer Resource Center in Mt. Prospect, Illinois.
Anywhere you look in the sportscar community, you can see the love and support of Lemons of Love. “Proud Supporter of Lemons of Love” decals are all over the Paddock. This weekend, Lemons of Love will act as the primary sponsor on the #93 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Josh Bilicki in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
“I’ve known Jill (Peltier) for many years now and have supported Lemons of Love with decals on our Trim-Tex Drywall Products racecar when I raced Spec Miata and in IMSA,” says Bilicki. “Lemons of Love is very well represented and supported in the world of sportscar racing, and I’m honored to bring them over to NASCAR with me and help them grow in this side of racing. Everyone knows someone effected by cancer, and I feel this is something that everyone can get behind and support.”
“Lemons of Love is honored to be represented on Josh Bilicki’s car this weekend,” says Jill Peltier, founder of LOL. “I have watched Josh grow up in the sport and love that Joe Koenig from Trim-Tex has connected us. With this new exposure to the NASCAR world, we hope to be able to share more Lemons of Love chemo care packages with those in cancer treatment.”
For three consecutive years, Lemons of Love has raffled off a brand new Mazda MX 5 Racecar. Proceeds from this raffle has helped double their growth and also helped with deliveries of their chemo care packages. This year’s raffle will end on March 21, 2020 at the 12 Hours of Sebring, when John Doonan, Mazda Motorsports Director, announces the winners name. Insurance King will also be on the #93 Chevrolet Camaro this weekend at Watkins Glen. Insurance King and Josh Bilicki announced last week that they would expand their partnership, with Insurance King acting as an associate sponsor last weekend on Josh Bilicki’s #53 Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Cup Series and also as a primary sponsor on his #93 Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Mid-Ohio.
This weekend’s Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen will be televised live on NBC on Saturday, August 3rd at 3:00PM ET.
