Brett Bodine got his first significant seat time behind the wheel of a Winston Cup car in 1987 while driving for legendary car owner Hoss Ellington.
Although Bodine was driving a limited schedule on NASCAR’s senior circuit, conflicts with his full-time Busch Series gig in the famed 00 Thomas Brothers Country Ham-sponsored car led to some interesting double-duty adventures. From hustling out of Charlotte and driving to South Boston, Virginia still clad in his driver’s uniform to a couple of exhausting rounds trips between Michigan and Orange County Speedway, Brett Bodine saw it all in 1987.
