Matt Lucas named interim crew chief for Hailie Deegan

Hailie Deegan will have a new crew chief beginning this weekend at Portland International Raceway. AM Racing announced it has parted ways with veteran crew chief Joe Williams, and the team’s competition director Matt Lucas will serve as crew chief for the next two weekends at Portland and Sonoma Raceway.

Williams joined AM Racing ahead of the 2023 season to be paired with Brett Moffitt. Over the offseason, he was announced as Deegan’s crew chief for her rookie campaign.

“We thank Joe for his time at AM Racing, and with him the best on his future endeavors,” the team stated.

Through 12 races, Deegan has a best finish of 12th at Talladega Superspeedway and sits 26th in the championship standings. The No. 15 Ford has an average finish of 25.5.
