Alpha Prime Racing acquires owner points from JD Motorsports

Alpha Prime Racing confirmed that it has acquired the owner points from the No. 4 car of JD Motorsports for its No. 45 entry. Garrett Smithley will drive for the team this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

By getting points from JDM, the No. 45 car has moved up six spots in the owners standings, bumping from 42nd to 36th. Alpha Prime has entered its No. 45 car into four races this season, but failed to qualify most recently at the Chicago Street Course when Alon Day crashed during practice.

JD Motorsports won’t enter a car into this weekend’s Pennzoil 250 at Indianapolis. JDM filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in South Carolina in early April, allowing the team to continue competing while reorganizing its debt. The listed debts in documents obtained by Jayski are north of $422,000.
