Sam Hunt Racing (SHR) announces today that NASCAR Cup Series standout Christopher Bell will pilot the No. 24 Mobil 1 GR Supra at the upcoming NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) race in Mexico City. The Chilango 150 will take place at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on Saturday, June 14th.

Since joining Joe Gibbs Racing, Bell has secured multiple victories in both the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series. Bell has put himself in championship contention for back-to-back years after making it to the Final Four of the NASCAR Cup Series Championship in both 2022 and 2023.

During Bell’s tenure in the Xfinity Series, Bell has captured 19 wins, 44 top-5 and 51 top-10 finishes with 14 pole starting positions.  Additionally, Bell consistently contended for the NXS championship during his full-time NXS career, highlighting his versatility and skill.

The 2017 NASCAR Truck Series Champion has established himself as a dominating competitor across NASCAR’s national series. Bell clinched the 2017 Truck Series title with five wins and an average finish of 5.7 across 23 races of the season, demonstrating his racing capability very early in his career.

“I have always respected Sam and what he’s done in the NASCAR Xfinity Series,” said Bell. “For such a young team owner to come onto the scene and have success and be part of Toyota has been a big deal. Being part of this team is something I look forward to being a part of and hopefully fighting for Sam Hunt Racing’s first-ever Xfinity Series win. It will be a unique experience going to a new racetrack for most of us in the series, and hopefully it provides a good learning experience before the Sunday Cup Series race. It will be a double-header Mobil 1 weekend for me in the XFINITY car and the Cup car.”

Most recently, Bell has electrified the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series by securing three consecutive victories. His winning streak began at Atlanta Motor Speedway, where he clinched a dramatic overtime victory, narrowly edging out competitors in a three-wide finish. Bell then proceeded to conquer the road course at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), overtaking Kyle Busch with just five laps remaining to secure his second straight win. Completing the trifecta, Bell triumphed at Phoenix Raceway in a tense two-lap sprint to the finish.

This remarkable run made Bell the first driver to win three consecutive Cup Series races in the Next Gen era and the first to achieve such a feat since Kyle Larson in 2021.

“This is without a doubt an extremely exciting opportunity for our organization, having Christopher come to SHR with a genuine desire to battle for this team’s first win in Mexico City,” said Sam Hunt. “Christopher’s talent and ability speak for themselves, but he’s also a great friend and a guy who has always supported this team and our growth over the years. Anytime we run strong, he seems to be the first Cup driver to reach out, to encourage us to keep pushing. Now, in partnership with the Mobil 1 family, we’re finally able to work together as one team. It’s special to see Christopher’s excitement match ours, and we’re working our hardest in the shop to put Christopher and Dean in a position to run extremely strong south of the border.”

Brian Gainey will continue to lead the effort as crew chief for the No. 24 team. Gainey has seen much success at Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) where he previously worked as the Car Chief of the No. 20 in the NXS. During his time at JGR, Gainey worked with Bell for four races, where the pair won their first NXS race together in 2021 and another two in 2024.

Tune in to The Chilango 150 at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on March 29th at 5:00 PM ET. All NASCAR Xfinity Series races will be broadcast on the CW Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90.
