National Fire Protection Association sponsoring Joey Gase at Daytona in Cup, Xfinity races

The National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) is returning to Daytona International Speedway this week with NASCAR driver Joey Gase to raise awareness for Fire Prevention Week™ 2025, which carries the theme “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.”

Gase will be behind the wheel for two Daytona races with cars emblazoned with the NFPA mascot, Sparky the Fire Dog®:

  • Friday, August 22 at 7:30 PM ET — the Wawa 250 Powered by Coca-Cola (NASCAR Xfinity Series), driving the 53 car.
  • Saturday, August 23 at 7:30 PM ET — the Coke Zero Sugar 400 (NASCAR Cup Series), driving the 44 car.

“Daytona is one of racing’s biggest stages, and we’re using that visibility to highlight a growing fire safety challenge in every household,” said Lorraine Carli, NFPA vice president of Outreach and Advocacy. “With Joey’s help on the track, we’re amplifying our efforts to promote lithium-ion battery safety and reminding people to follow safe buying, charging, and recycling practices for their devices.”

These races build on the collaboration between NFPA and the Joey Gase Motorsports with Scott Osteen team. NFPA is sponsoring the team in seven races this year to spotlight critical fire safety issues for racing fans throughout the country. With lithium-ion battery use rapidly increasing in everyday products—from phones and laptops to e-bikes and power tools—this year’s Fire Prevention Week, which runs from October 5 – 11, 2025, stresses how everyone can use these batteries safely.

Both races will be broadcast nationally, providing NFPA with an opportunity to spread its Fire Prevention Week safety messages to millions of NASCAR fans.
