Connor Zilisch cleared to race at Daytona

Connor Zilisch has been cleared to compete in Friday’s Wawa 250 Powered by Coca-Cola Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway. Parker Kligerman will be on standby, JR Motorsports announced.

Zilisch won the series’ most recent event at Watkins Glen International before slipping while exiting his No. 88 Chevrolet in Victory Lane and breaking his collarbone. He had surgery early last week to repair the injury.

Earlier this week, JRM confirmed that Zilisch was slated to drive the No. 88 car at Daytona while Trackhouse Racing team owner Justin Marks called the situation “day-to-day.” Zilisch enters Daytona with a seven-point advantage over JRM teammate Justin Allgaier for the regular-season championship lead with three races remaining before the points are reset.
