Randy W. King, 69, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in West Virginia to the late Otha Lee and Evolene Conner King. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Judy K. Henderson.
Randy spent his entire career working for the Roanoke Times, covering NASCAR, Virginia Tech Football, and VMI Football. He was inducted as a member of the Roanoke Valley Golf Hall of Fame in 2018.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Kerns King; daughter, Heather King Milton (Jacob); son, Justin King (Caroline); grandchildren, Matthew Wynn and Madelyn Faith Milton; brother, Lloyd Jay King (Sue); multiple nephews and one niece.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road with Rev. Robin Barge officiating. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
