Mark Garrow retiring

Performance Racing Network’s Mark Garrow announced Thursday evening that he is retiring at the end of the season.  He made the announcement on Facebook:

For more than 40 years Mark Garrow’s voice has been an integral part of the motorsports’ airwaves, but now the Vermont native has decided it’s time to step away from the raceday grind.

At the end of the 2025 season, Garrow will retire from his race-day duties with Performance Racing Network.

“To think I’ve been broadcasting Cup Series races for more than 40 years, that I was on the air when Richard Petty won his 200th race, that I have done close to 10,000 daily radio shows, and that I have worked with so many great people along the way has been a great blessing,” Garrow said.

“I’ve always appreciated Mike Joy and John McMullin opening the door for me to work at MRN and the folks at Capitol Sports for allowing me to build a radio network from the ground up. I’m also proud to have worked with Jay Adamcyzk and to have helped engineer Jayski.com’s explosive business growth. Last, but certainly not least, I consider it a privilege to have worked with PRN for more than 30 years, in the booth with Doug Rice, anchoring PRN’s “Garage Pass”, and representing a great company – Speedway Motorsports.”

Garrow began attending races with his parents when he was only a year old. In those days, his father was the flagman at the local short track, and his mother was a scorer.

During Garrow’s illustrious career, he was the public relations director at Dover Downs Speedway, helped build the team that won the 1990 Busch Series (now Xfinity) Championship with Chuck Bown, was an on-air talent for MRN and the network’s director of affiliates, founded and built the nationally syndicated radio show “Winston Cup Today” with Capitol Sports Network, and worked with PRN as a turn announcer and pit reporter before joining Rice in the booth. His professional accolades include being the first recipient of the Barney Hall Award and six-time National Motorsports Press Association Broadcaster of the Year. Garrow has also done TV work for FOX, ESPN, TNT, and TNN.

“I look back on my career starting out as a short-track promoter and all of the things that have happened in between, it’s been an amazing ride,” Garrow said. “I’m sure I’ll find a few projects to keep me busy, allowing me to stick around a sport that’s literally been a part of my whole life.”
