‘Gift of Lights at Dover Motor Speedway’ returns through the holiday season, starting on Thanksgiving

The holiday spirit will sparkle once again during the return of the “Gift of Lights at Dover Motor Speedway” drive-thru light show at The Monster Mile.

The fourth annual Gift of Lights event will illuminate the campgrounds of Dover Motor Speedway nightly from Thanksgiving through Jan. 4, featuring more than 100 festive scenes and 2.5 million lights along an almost two-mile pathway winding through the property.

Gift of Lights is presented by Winterland, Inc., a holiday décor and lighting firm based in Marion, Ind., with more than 30 years of experience. Partners in the event include the Delaware Lottery, Carter Machinery, Visit Central Delaware and Cracker Barrel.

The schedule for the in-car experience includes:
Regular Hours
Sunday-Thursday: 5-9 p.m.
Friday-Saturday: 5-10 p.m.
Holiday Hours, Sunday, Dec. 21 through Sunday, Dec. 28
All days: 5-10 p.m.

Tickets are available online at GiftOfLightsDover.com or can be purchased upon arrival. No advance reservations are necessary. Vehicles should enter the display through the entrance at 1229 Persimmon Tree Lane and will exit onto Leipsic Road. Follow posted signs for traffic flow and up-to-date information.

Several theme and discount nights are planned for Gift of Lights, including:
$5 Military Mondays, Dec. 1 and Dec. 8: All active-duty airmen, reservists, guardsmen, guardians and veterans with valid IDs receive admission for $5 (for them and their car load).
Monday, Dec. 1: Pajama Night ($5 off per car if wearing pajamas).
Tuesday, Dec. 2: Giving Tuesday ($5 off per car). Speedway Children’s Charities, Dover Motor Speedway chapter is the beneficiary of this discount.
Wednesday, Dec. 3: Pet Night ($5 off per car if you bring a furry friend).
Wednesday, Dec. 10: Christmas Sweater Night, presented by Delaware Lottery (Wear your most festive holiday sweater for $5 off per car).
All nights: $5 discount for military members and parties that bring a canned good, which will be donated to the Food Bank of Delaware.

Discount nights require purchase at the entrance to receive the discount (they can’t be purchased in advance online to receive the discount).
