NASCAR San Diego reveals star-studded lineup of pre-race guests for O’Reilly race

Today, NASCAR announced that the United Rentals Driven to Serve 250 will feature an unforgettable pre-race celebration honoring the spirit of service and leadership before the green flag waves on the Saturday’s NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Naval Base Coronado.

Headlining the festivities, Super Bowl Champion and Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee Drew Brees will serve as Grand Marshal, delivering the iconic command for drivers to start their engines.

The pre-race celebration will also include Major League Baseball Hall of Famer and San Diego Padres legend Trevor Hoffman as Honorary Pace Car Rider and ACM Award-Winning recording artist Stephen Wilson Jr. as Honorary Starter, waving the green flag to begin Saturday’s action.

“The United Rentals Driven to Serve 250 is about celebrating those who inspire others through service, leadership and excellence,” said Amy Lupo, NASCAR San Diego President. “From military members to champions in sports and entertainment, this year’s pre-race participants reflect the values that make this event so meaningful.”

Additional ceremonial elements will showcase the rich traditions of the United States Navy. The Naval Base San Diego Color Guard will present the colors before Chaplain Alexandre Hasegawa, and Staff Chaplain at Naval Base Coronado, will deliver the invocation. The Naval Aviation Alumni Choir will perform the national anthem, followed by a thrilling helicopter flyover by the “Blue Hawks” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 78 and the “Merlins” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 3.

The United Rentals Driven to Serve 250 is part of NASCAR San Diego’s historic inaugural race weekend, marking the first national NASCAR event held aboard an active military installation.
