Kaulig Racing driver Ty Dillon will make his 300th NASCAR Cup Series start Sunday at Chicagoland Speedway.
“Making 300 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series is so special to me,” Dillon said.
“As a kid, you dream of racing in the Cup Series, starting the Daytona 500 and competing for championships,” he said. “As your career goes on, you realize how important and special it is to keep making starts at this level. I’m proud to reach this mark, and I’m grateful I’ve been able to stick around long enough to gain so many experiences racing at the highest level all over the country. I’m pumped for this weekend and hopeful there are another 300 starts ahead.”
Dillon, 34, comes from a prominent NASCAR family. He is the grandson of Hall of Fame team owner Richard Childress, the son of Mike Dillon — general manager of Richard Childress Racing — and Tina Dillon, and the younger brother of Austin Dillon, who drives the No. 3 car full time for the team. He and his wife, Haley, have three children.
Dillon enters the weekend with two career top-five finishes and eight top-10s in the Cup Series, including a career-best third-place finish at Talladega Superspeedway in 2020.
He drives the No. 10 car for Kaulig Racing where he has raced since August of 2024.
“Having Ty with us over the last year and a half and seeing him reach this milestone is something special,” Kaulig Racing CEO Chris Rice said. “Most drivers never get the opportunity to make 10 starts at the Cup level, let alone 300. Reaching this mark is a well-deserved achievement, and congratulations to Ty.”
Dillon made his Cup Series debut Sept. 2, 2014, at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He has driven for several teams but has made most of his starts for Kaulig Racing, Spire Motorsports and Germain Racing.
He also has succeeded in the Xfinity Series, where he earned one victory in 2014 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, 34 top-five finishes and 92 top-10s while finishing a career-best third in points in 2015.
In the Craftsman Truck Series, he posted three wins, finished second in the 2013 standings and earned Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in 2012. He also won the ARCA Racing Series championship in 2011.
