NASCAR Cup Series teams will debut a new left-side Goodyear Racing Eagle at Iowa Speedway this weekend, paired with the same right-side tire introduced at the D-shaped short track last season.
The new left-side tire was developed following a successful Goodyear tire test at Iowa in May with drivers Austin Dillon (Chevrolet), Noah Gragson (Ford) and Tyler Reddick (Toyota). It features an updated construction and compound designed to withstand the track’s high speeds and heavy loads while still promoting increased tire wear and fall off.
“Iowa is challenging because of its high cornering speeds and heavy loads,” said Rick Heinrich, Goodyear NASCAR product manager. “The Goodyear team has worked closely with the industry to provide a tire package that is ready for that challenge. Following our successful tire test at Iowa in May, we’re bringing a new left-side Goodyear Racing Eagle featuring an updated construction and compound to help promote more wear and fall-off.”
Teams in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series will run the same tire setup used recently at Pocono Raceway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The left-side tire has also been raced this season at Darlington Raceway, Rockingham Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway and Dover Motor Speedway.
Across the Atlantic, Goodyear Racing Eagles are also in action this weekend in the British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill Racing Circuit.
