Goodyear Racing Notes: Bristol Motor Speedway

NASCAR Cup Series teams will use the same left- and right-side Goodyear Racing Eagles at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend that they used in the spring race at the Tennessee track.

“Bristol Motor Speedway’s high-banked concrete surface is demanding and continually evolves as rubber is laid down over 500 laps,” said Rick Heinrich, Goodyear NASCAR product manager. “The Goodyear Racing Eagles we have selected for this weekend are designed to effectively rubber in the racing surface creating multiple racing grooves. Teams already have experience with this combination from the spring race.”

The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will also race on familiar Goodyear Racing Eagles on the Bristol concrete this weekend. O’Reilly Auto Parts Series teams have used the setup at Pocono Raceway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Iowa Speedway this season, while the left-side tire has been raced five further times, including during Bristol’s spring race. Craftsman Truck Series teams have raced the left-side tire four times this season; the right-side tire will make its first appearance in the series.

Teams in both series will use inner liners on the right-side tires at Bristol.

Goodyear Racing Eagles are also in action this weekend in the NHRA Great Lakes Nationals at US 131 Motorsports Park, Michigan.
