Martin Truex Jr. survives spin to lead Gibbs domination at Richmond: Martin Truex Jr. overcame late adversity and continued to assert his mastery over the first round of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. Rallying from a spin off the bumper of Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s Ford, and passing Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch for the lead with 25 laps left, Truex led an 1-2-3 finish for JGR in Saturday night’s Federated Auto parts 400 at Richmond Raceway. In fact, the Gibbs cars were 1-2-3-4 at the finish, but a disqualification due to a post-race Optical Scanning Station inspection failure cost Erik Jones his fourth-place result. Truex overcame a late spin while leading to come back and pass Kyle Busch for the lead with 26 laps remaining.
#4-Harvick and #18-Busch both clinched a spot in the Playoffs Round of 12 on points.
#20-Jones originally finished 4th, but failed post-race inspection and was moved back to 38th place.
Stage 1 was won by #19-Truex, Jr. Stage 2 was won by #18-Busch.

#2-Brad Keselowski won the Busch pole for the Federated Auto Parts 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway with a speed of 127.185mph for his 3rd pole of 2019, 2nd at Richmond and 17th of his career.
Cars were impounded after qualifying on Friday and inspected Saturday after the garage opened. There were two drivers that failed inspection; #43-Bubba Wallace and #52-JJ Yeley. Their qualifying time was disallowed and they will drop to the rear of the field.
All of the Playoff drivers passed inspection.

Brad Keselowski claims pole position for Richmond Cup race: In a battle of late qualifiers at Richmond Raceway, Brad Keselowski knocked Kevin Harvick off the provisional pole for Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 400 to claim the top starting spot for the second race in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. The 36th of 38 drivers to make a qualifying run, Keselowski covered the .75-mile distance in 21.229 seconds (127.185 mph) to beat Harvick (126.559 mph) by .105 seconds. The Busch Pole Award was Keselowski’s third this season, his second at Richmond and the 17th of his career.[More](9-20-2019)
