#10-Aric Almirola won the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 NASCAR Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday, holding off #20-Christopher Bell in the closing laps. The race was cut just eight laps short of the scheduled distance due to darkness. The win is his first win of the year, first at New Hampshire and third career win. Almirola secured a position in the Playoffs with the win.
#20-Bell finished 2nd followed by #2-Brad Keselowski, #22-Joey Logano, #12-Ryan Blaney, #4-Kevin Harvick, #5-Kyle Larson, #42-Ross Chastain, #48-Alex Bowman, and #11-Denny Hamlin.
Pole sitter #18-Kyle Busch led the field to green under damp conditions as a light mist turned into a drizzle shortly after the green flag fell. As Busch led the field on lap 6, he spun and hit the wall as the wet track began to lose grip. Busch’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammates #19-Martin Truex, Jr. and #11-Hamlin also had issues and spun. Busch’s day was done and he finished 37th.
The rain had set in at that point and a red flag was displayed for an hour and 41 minutes.
Stage 1 was won by #12-Blaney. Stage 2 was won by #2-Keselowski.
There were 14 lead changes among 10 drivers and 6 cautions for 47 yellow flag laps.
