William Byron wins wild NASCAR Cup race on transformed Atlanta track: It was superspeedway racing with all the trimmings. “New” Atlanta Motor Speedway produced a fifth different 2022 winner—William Byron, who managed to keep an angry pack of drafting cars behind him for the final 10 laps of Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. In a race that produced 46 lead changes among 20 drivers—both track records—Byron crossed the finish line .109 seconds ahead of Christopher Bell and .145 seconds ahead of Ross Chastain.[Read More](3-20-2022)

#24-William Byron won the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The win is his 1st win of the year, 1st win at Atlanta and 3rd career win.
#1-Chastain finished 2nd followed by #45-Busch, #99-Suarez, #7-LaJoie, #9-Elliott, #17-Buscher, #19-Truex, Jr., #22-Logano, and #48-Bowman.
Byron took the lead from #23-Wallace with 9 laps remaining and held off late charges by Wallace and Chastain to grab the win.
#20-Bell took the checkered flag in second, but was penalized by NASCAR for dropping below the red line to advance his position.  He was credited with 23rd.
Pole sitter #14-Briscoe finished 15th.
Stage 1 was won by #24-Byron. Stage 2 was won by #12-Blaney.
There were 46 lead changes among 20 drivers and 11 cautions for 65 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was: 126.584mph.
