Ryan Blaney breaks 59-race NASCAR Cup Series drought with Coca-Cola 600 win: Finally. Breaking a 59-race drought in Monday’s rain-delayed Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Ryan Blaney gave team owner Roger Penske his first same-year sweep of IndyCar’s biggest race and NASCAR’s longest. #12-Ryan Blaney won the postponed Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Monday. The win is his 1st win of the year, 2nd at Charlotte (first at the oval) and 8th career win.
Pole sitter #24-Byron finished 2nd followed by #19-Truex, Jr., #23-Wallace, #45-Reddick, #8-Busch, #47-Stenhouse, Jr., #17-Buescher, #3-Dillon, and #38-Smith.
Blaney led 163 laps on the day, taking the lead from Byron just prior to the final caution of the day, with 25 laps remaining and keeping the lead for the rest.
There was a 30 minute red flag for rain on lap 157.
Stage 1 was won by #24-Byron. #17-Buescher took Stage 2. #12-Blaney won Stage 3.
There were 31 lead changes among 13 drivers and 16cautions for 83 yellow flag laps.
