Tim, a Texaco employee posted the following on the Talk It Over: iRACE Message Boards . Just heard that Kenny Irwin, Jr. is not the likely candidate for the #28 car in '98. The current candidate is a young guy presently in the top ten in NASCAR Winston Cup points.

Wednesday night(7-2) on ESPN2, Kenny Irwin was interviewed. He flatly denied a 98 WC ride with Penske or Roush. As heard before, he said Penske told him he wasn't starting a second team. As far as Roush, Irwin hadn't really spoken to him(7-7-97)
